This would add extra weight to the family, reduce performance, and of course, it would take longer to finish the family. Unfortunately there is no API access to anything within that tab of visibility graphics override, and it doesn’t appear to be coming anytime soon. The way to do this involved creating a completely different set of Reference Planes, Parameters, and Formulas that would be beneficial to control that void geometry’s position. If you are trying to turn off categories for links but not the current project, there is no work around. An example of this is with a family that could be surface mounted or recessed, in which the manufacturer’s specs would call for the same model being able to be installed either way, so we needed to come up with “creative” ways to allow a void to cut the host when it was recessed and not to, when it was surface mounted. Issueīefore Revit 2021, controlling voids in the families’ geometry was very challenging, especially, when setting them up to cut, or not to cut a solid, or the host, all in the same family. If you have had issues in the past trying to control a void or voids in families to cut, or not to cut solids, this is the perfect trick to add to your arsenal. This feature is the ability to control the visibility of a void in a family the same way we can control solid geometry. View Filters for Linked ModelsYou can control the visibility and graphics of linked models and nested linked models in a view of a host model. There’s one specific feature that makes dealing with voids much easier. About the Visibility of Linked ModelsParameters that control the visibility and graphics of linked Revit models are grouped under their own tab, Revit Links, in the Visibility/Graphics dialog. Simply select the necessary category and change the Lines/Patterns. You can access the View Template through Properties > Identity Data > View Template.Revit 2021 has several new features and enhancements. VIEW TEMPLATE in Revit is a collection of view properties, such as a scale of a view, detail level, discipline, view ranges, orientations, model display. Under View>Visibility Graphics, you can specify certain Revit families to be a certain color. Note that AutoCAD LT users will be able to view existing 3d models but not create or modify them. If you selected a linked model instance, select the Override display settings for this instance check box. Check on VV> Revit Links> Display Settings if the visibility settings of the link. Click the button in the Display Settings column. Go to VV (Visibility / Graphics Overrides > Revit Links). So make sure you go into the View Template and update the Visibility/Graphics or change settings to not included Visibility/Graphics. Select the linked model or linked model instance to modify. The Visibility/Graphics window will be greyed out (as shown above) if its included in the View Properties of the View Template. If you open the Visibility/Graphics window directly from the Ribbon: So why is my Visibility/Graphics Greyed Out? So any changes to the view template will automatically be applied to all the views the view template is applied too. The other option is to assign the template to a view(s), this will create a link between the template and the view. You can apply a template to the view(s) once, which won’t update the view(s) if you change the view template. This dialog is arranged in a tree structure with the parent nodes referring to separate files (the primary linked model), and the child nodes referring to instances (copies) of the model in the project. Using View Templates is a great way to control your view(s) so you can adhere to your company standards, or just simply control all you view at once.Īs you will see on the above view the one on the left has no template applied and the one on the right does. Parameters that control the visibility and graphics of linked Revit models are grouped under their own tab, Revit Links, in the Visibility/Graphics dialog.
